Just a Little Break!

First of all, I want to say a huge and hearty thank-you to all of you who have purchased our new record, come to our more-than-sold-out show at Jerry’s, and carved my name into their forearms. Your support means the world to us. (If you haven’t already, you can check out our new record on iTunes or on BandCamp.)

I wanted to let you know that The Mathematics will be taking a wee-little hiatus for the next month or so, while I’m on tour as a sideman for the unstoppable force that is Ezra Furman. Rest assured, we’ll be back in full force later this spring, and we’re organizing shows with some of our favorite Chicago bands and blog sessions with some of the hippest, non-jive-est cats on the internets.

IN THE MEANTIME, you can check out our live full-band in-studio show at Chicago Acoustic Underground! And if you’re pretty much anywhere in the Midwest, East Coast, or South, you can see me playing bass and keys with Ezra Furman (Tour Schedule Here).

If you’ve been waiting for your chance to see The Mathematics in concert (and I can see you there, sitting on the edge of your seat and refreshing the page every 2 minutes) then look no further than Ace Bar on Wednesday, Februrary 29th! For that is the night that we’ll be headlining the Chicago institution that is Get Off The Couch!

And if you’re not familiar with said couch off-getting, then you should know that it’s pretty much the greatest songwriters’ circle in the city. And not only will I (B. Joseph) be playing an acoustic set, but The Mathematics will be playing a full-band set to close out the night!

5 measly bucks at the door. Festivities start at 8. See you there!

The Genuine, Bona-fide, Certified, Deep-fried, Record Release at Jerry’s

First of all, I wanted to extend a heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who came to our more-or-less sold out pre-release party at Schuba’s a few months ago, and the handful of shows we’ve had since then! Not to mention all of you who’ve purchased the pre-order edition of our new record.

We’re proud to say that after much deliberation, a few severed limbs, and the official approval of the U.N. and N.A.A.C.P., the album is currently being pressed and printed on gorgeous matte-finish lipstick-smeared digipaks.

We’ll be playing some tunes from that record at Jerry’s in Wicker Park on March 10th and you will be there, eating a phenomenal sandwich, sipping a nice European lager and listening to us. Yes, you. March 10th.
